  'No Saruman' in third Rings film

Lord of the Rings actor Christopher Lee has said that his character, Saruman, won't be appearing in the third and final Lord of the Rings film.

Lee spoke out after rumours appeared on the web that his seven minute part had been cut from Return of the King.

He said: "If you want to know why you would have to ask the company New Line or director Peter Jackson because I still don't really know."

Lee will not be attending the film's premiere when it comes out in December.

He said: "What's the point of going? None at all."

Peter Jackson, speaking on the web, has apparently said the missing scenes will be in the extended version of the film, to be released on DVD in 2004.

Return of the King has its world premiere on 1 December in New Zealand.
