Updated 10 November 2003, 14.17
Matrix Revolutions has broken a Rings record
The final film in the Matrix trilogy took around $204m (£120m) in its first weekend, more than any other film.

The first screenings of The Matrix Revolutions started at exactly the same time all over the world.

According to Warner Brothers, who made the film, no other globally released film has ever made as much money on its first weekend.

They reckon it pushed the Two Towers into second place after it took $188m (£110m) in 2002.
