  Gollum actor 'to play King Kong'

The man behind short, skinny Lord of the Rings beastie Gollum is set to play a very different monster - rumours on the web say he's lined up as King Kong!

Andy Serkis was asked by the Toronto Star if he was joining Rings director Peter Jackson on the upcoming film as the giant ape itself.

He apparently only smiled, said "Sssh!" and gave "a thumbs-up gesture".

Fellow Rings actor Ian McKellen said he wanted to be involved, but he hadn't heard anything from Peter Jackson.

King Kong will be Jackson's first film project since finishing the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The final film in the series, Return of the King, opens in the UK on 17 December.
