Elijah 'can't wait for fans to see Rings 3'
Updated 14 December 2003, 14.52
Elijah Wood plays Frodo in the films
The hobbits tell Newsround Online how they feel about the release of Return of the King.

By Clare Youell

Elijah Wood is one happy hobbit.

The third Lord of the Rings film is coming out on 17 December - and he can't wait.

He laughed a bit manically when we asked him how he felt about the mayhem that inevitably come with the movie's release.

"I'm very excited, but it's always a bit crazy," he admitted.

"I just can't wait for the fans to see the film, because I think it's definitely the best one of the three."

Back together

In ROTK, Elijah gets to do come cool stuff, like facing one of the most fearsome characters from the book, Shelob the giant spider, and taking part in some epic battle scenes.

And although Elijah likes all the attention, he also admitted he can't wait for Christmas, when he plans to get lots of sleep.

His co-star, fellow hobbit and good mate Dominic Monaghan, who plays Merry, said one of the best things about ROTK coming out is that he gets to be with all his friends again.

"The fact that we're all together again is probably the best thing," he said. "We do this big tour and get to hang out with all our friends. We get to go to New Zealand (where the Rings movies were filmed) which is a place we really love.

"It does get crazy but it's good - kind of mental.

Miss each other

"Everyone thinks we're flying around enjoying ourselves, which we are, but we are all very tired and have to work pretty hard, and we get very jet-lagged.

"And we have to watch the film about nine or 10 times so we know it backwards by the end."

Most of the young Rings actors admit they were very close on set, and that they all miss each other loads now they're not filming anymore.

Elijah as Frodo
Dominic, who comes from Manchester, agrees, even though he now lives in America - very near Elijah, so the pals can see each other often.

"We do miss each other but we hang out a lot," he said. "Elijah and I live in the same city. And I see Billy Boyd, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom and Ian McKellen a lot, so we're all good friends.

"We're cool."

We think so too!
