Two Towers breaks DVD pre-order record
Updated 20 August 2003, 16.32
Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn
The Two Towers, the second Lord of the Rings film, has broken the record for DVD and video pre-release sales.

On-line shop Amazon announced that its previous record had been topped, and there's still six days to go til the film is released.

Gollum music video!

Over 40,000 copies of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets were ordered before it came out in April, but 50,000 orders have already been placed for the Two Towers.

WH Smith say The Two Towers is neck and neck with COS, but with 100,000 copies ordered and six days to go, it should beat the boy wizard's second film.

The DVD, which is out on 26 August, features a short film by Sean Astin, who plays Sam, and, oddly, a music video starring Gollum.

And one of the most exciting things is a preview for the third and final LOTR flick, Return of the King.

But for real Rings nuts, the extended edition is coming out in November.

That will feature extra scenes and loads of documentaries.

The first Rings film, The Fellowship of the Ring, sold four million DVDs in 2002.
