A year and a half ago it seemed that Gareth was set for pop mega stardom.

Although he lost out to Pop Idol Will Young, his first single went straight to the top of the charts, and his album went in at number two.

He also scored another solo number one plus a couple of joint chart toppers

Last November he was still riding high, winning four awards at the Smash Hits awards including Best Male.

The Pop Idol loser's latest album, Go Your Own way went into the chart at number 11.

And it was beaten by five other new entries from bands including Nickelback and the Darkness.

And his latest single Sunshine entered the Top 40 at number three. But it quickly slid out of the top ten the following week and is now sitting at number 23.

But on the brighter side he did recently win the prize for Best Male at the Disney Channel Kids Awards.
