Matrix opens on Imax and normal cinemas
Updated 24 April 2003, 15.52
A scene from the Matrix Reloaded
The third Matrix film is to open on giant Imax screens at the same time as normal cinemas in the US.

It's the first time ever that a Hollywood blockbuster film has opened on both types of screen.

And if the first film is anything to go by, Matrix Revolutions is likely to look amazing on the big screen when it opens on 5 November!

Imax cinema in London

Imax screens can be up to eight storeys high and have fantastic quality audio.

The Imax company says: "The Matrix is a visual spectacle. There wasn't a better film than The Matrix".

New special effects

Many people have been waiting ages just to see the second film, Matrix Reloaded.

There's loads of new technology used in the film.

Producer Joel Silver says "These are the most complicated visual effects ever."

It opens next month, but will only be shown on the huge Imax cinemas three weeks later.
