  Rings grabs four MTV Movie Awards

Sean Astin and Elijah Wood pick up the best team award
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers was the big winner at the MTV Awards in LA, taking four prizes including Best Film.

The Two Towers also won the Best Action sequence, Best On-screen team for Frodo, Sam and Gollum and Best Virtual performance for Gollum.

Gollum wasn't the only computerised character to win an award, with Yoda's lightsabre battle against Count Dooku winning Best Fight.

As well as the usual load of movie and music stars at the Awards, David and Victoria Beckham also dropped in to present a prize.

The pair - dressed in matching white outfits - got a huge cheer from the audience as they came on stage to give the Best Transatlantic Breakthrough Award to Irish actor Colin Farrell.

The awards were hosted by actor Seann William Scott and pop sensation Justin Timberlake, who poked fun at films like the Matrix Reloaded in a number of sketches.

All the other winners were:

  • Movie - "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"
  • Actor - Eminem, "8 Mile"
  • Actress - Kirsten Dunst, "Spider-Man"
  • Kiss - Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, "Spider-Man"
  • Action sequence - "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"
  • Yoda picked up a best fight award

  • Breakthrough female performance - Jennifer Garner, "Daredevil"
  • Breakthrough male performance - Eminem, "8 Mile"
  • Trans-Atlantic breakthrough - Colin Farrell, "Phone Booth"
  • Comedic performance - Mike Myers, "Austin Powers in Goldmember"
  • On-screen team - Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Gollum, "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"
  • Virtual Performance - Gollum, "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"
  • Villain - Daveigh Chase, "The Ring"
