  Gollum spies a precioussssssssss MTV award

 Will Gollum steal an MTV Award?
Having been snubbed for an Oscar nomination, Gollum could be getting his hands on a precious prize when the MTV Movie Awards are revealed.

The creepy creature has been nominated in a brand new category, best virtual performance, along with Dobby from Harry Potter.

Scooby Doo, Jedi master Yoda and Kangaroo Jack were the other nominees.

Gollum got another nomination in the best on-screen team category, for his team-up with hobbits Frodo and Sam in The Two Towers.

The second film in the Lord of the Rings series has a chance of bagging the biggest prize of the night when the winners are announced on 31 May.

It's up against Spider-Man, Eminem's 8 Mile, Barbershop and The Ring in the race to win best movie.

Rings and Spider-Man both picked up the most nominations, with five each.
