Oscars still to go ahead - at the moment
Updated 22 March 2003, 12.31
All the stars are told where to sit at the Kodak Theatre
The Oscars are still going ahead on Sunday night, according to organisers.

The usual glitz and glamour of the show has already been cut back, but even so the war in Iraq has still put the show in doubt.

Some stars like Will Smith have pulled out of the event, and the usual red carpet that celebs walk down in front of photographers has been banned.

The president of the Academy, Frank Pierson, said it was important for the event to go ahead, to show America at its best.

However he added that the ceremony could still be called off at any point and there is a chance that the TV network broadcasting it may have to break away to update viewers on the war.

Stars may protest

Some of the stars who attend the Oscars are expected to wear special pins on their outfits to protest against the war, while winners may use their speeches to say something.
