JK Rowling to appear in the Simpsons
Updated 26 February 2003, 17.46

JK Rowling is to cast a spell over the long running Simpsons animated series.

She'll appear as herself in an episode which reportedly takes place in the UK, when the Simpson family visit England to find a girl Grandpa had a wartime fling with.

A spokeswoman for JK confirmed to CBBC Newsround's website that she'd already recorded her voice for the part.

In the episode, The Simpsons bump into JK Rowling outside a bookshop and they all talk about Harry Potter, especially Lisa who's a big fan, according to newspaper reports.

Famous faces

Sir Ian McKellen who plays Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings movies will appear too.

Dozens of stars from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers to U2 have appeared in The Simpsons.

Two years ago, there was a special Harry Potter Hallowe'en segment of the show, with Bart and Lisa going to Springwarts School.
