  Rings up for best Oscar, but Potter's snubbed

The Lord of the Rings is up for best picture
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is up for the biggest film award in the world - an Oscar.

The second movie based on JRR Tolkien's trilogy is up against films like Chicago starring Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta Jones, and Nicole Kidman's new flick, The Hours.

But, like last year, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has been snubbed by the Academy.

It didn't get a single nomination in a major category.

Secret talks

The 2003 nominations were revealed on Tuesday.

Poor old Potter's been ignored again
Chicago is leading the Oscars race with 13 nominations.

Gangs of New York has 10 and The Hours has nine.

Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger are both up for best actress for their parts in The Hours and Chicago.

Jack Nicholson and Nicholas Cage are among the stars battling it our for best actor.

The winners will be revealed on Oscars night on Sunday 23 March.
