The makers reckon it's to do with the massive success Will and Gareth have had since they came first and second in the hit reality show.

Not to mention the success of those who didn't grab the winner's crown, like Darius, Sarah Whatmore, Rosie Ribbons and Zoe Birkett.

Cringe!

Millions fell in love as painfully shy Gareth first wowed the judges in Pop Idol I.

And millions swooned to Will's crooning in his auditions.

But there were loads of cringe-worthy moments too! And that's what made the show so popular.

More than 14 million watched the final, a year ago on Sunday.

And it's hoped this year's show, hosted by Ant and Dec and on air in late summer, will be just as exciting!
