Lord of the Rings up for nine Baftas!
Updated 27 January 2003, 16.33
Orlando Bloom
The Lord of the Rings could once again be in for a fantastic night at this year's Bafta Film Awards.

The Two Towers has been nominated for nine Baftas, Britain's biggest film awards.

It's up for best film as well as best director for Peter Jackson.

Last year, the first in the trilogy - The Fellowship of the Ring - was nominated for 12 awards and came away with five of them.

The two films with the most nominations this year are musical flick Chicago and historical epic Gangs of New York, which are both up for 12 awards.

Not good for Potter

Harry and Ron in Chamber of Secrets

Both Potter and LOTR will battle it out for the Orange Film of the Year, which is the Bafta chosen by a public vote.

But Harry Potter has not score too well in the rest of the shortlist.

The Chamber of Secrets is only up for three technical awards, even though it was a massive hit at the box office.

Another of your fave films, Bend it Like Beckham, is up for best British film.

The awards are announced on 23 February - so watch this space!
