Fame Academy winner David Sneddon wowed fans at a special gig in his home town, Paisley in Scotland.

In his first concert since leaving the academy, he performed to 600 people in the town hall.

Overwhelmed

He was overwhelmed by the noisy reception he received as he sang four songs.

He said: "It's pretty incredible because all I've done is write some songs. It's the best thing that ever happened to me, I can't take it all in."

Number one?

The crowd erupted when he performed his debut single "Stop Living the Lie" which was released on Monday and is expected to top next week's chart.

He said he would be "absolutely over the moon" if his single, which he wrote eight years ago, hit the number one spot.

Hard wor

He also hit out at critics of music shows such as Fame Academy and Popstars: the Rivals, saying they were the best way to find new music talent in the UK.

He said: "It's very easy for people to criticise shows like the one I was in, but they proved that there is real talent out there.

"I've been doing this for eight years and to be where I am today has been hard work."
