Lord of the Rings star Billy Boyd is planning to help kids from poor areas get into acting.

Billy, who plays Hobbit Pippin in the movies, comes from a deprived part of Glasgow, called Easterhouse.

The generous celeb said he was in talks with the acting union, Equity, to get young people from the same area to take up performing arts.

Billy Boyd wants to help others get into acting
"It's difficult enough getting into acting but when you come from a place like this, your chances are even more limited," Billy said.

"I am living proof that you can make it if you try."

Billy, 34, was speaking at an exhibition in Easterhouse about local celebrities, where he's one of the main attractions.
