Even so the two Thai scouts, 15-year-old Rungnapa Kedkaew and Arak Jringjit, insisted they had met the real thing, and even made the front page of the Bangkok Post newspaper.
The confusion may have been because one of the scouts who was in the film is at the event, although he isn't Daniel, revealed camp spokesman Richard Amalvy.
He said: "There is a boy who is in the movie here but he's not the main actor. This boy is here with his friends for the holidays so we don't want to have the paparazzi here. It's a private holiday for him."
