  The Office wins big at the Comedy Awards

 David Brent is in charge at The Office
The Office and Phoenix Nights were the big winners when top telly comedy talent was rewarded at the British Comedy Awards

The Office won best TV Comedy and its star Ricky Gervais was named best comedy actor while Phoenix Nights won the People's Choice prize.

Kris Marshall won best newcomer
My Family star Kris Marshall won best newcomer
The star of that show Peter Kay was also smiling after he won the award for the best writer of the year.

My Family star Kris Marshall took the award for best newcomer while the Kumars at No 42 was voted best new show.

It wasn't just TV that was rewarded, with Bend it Like Beckham netting the trophy for best comedy film.
