A year of fame begins for David!
Updated 14 December 2002, 10.22
David Sneddon
David Sneddon has enjoyed his first night as the winner of Fame Academy, beginning the year of stardom that is the top prize.

He was put straight to work on Saturday morning, appearing on The Saturday Show on BBC One.

Amazing prize!

But his prize is well worth the early start!

He gets an expensive flat in London, a flash car and a million-pound record deal that are all his for one year and one year only.

But after that he will have to make it on his own, and it doesn't seem like he's going to have any problems.

His first single is out in January, and after that will come an album, with David saying he's already written around 50 or 60 songs for it.

After the show he admitted he thought he had a good chance of winning when the live final began.

He told BBC Radio Five Live that "The first time I thought I might win this was the very first time I stepped on stage on Friday. I just had a feeling."

He also said he wasn't going to be pushed around by people telling him what to do, saying: "I will put my foot down on the occasion if I think something is not right."
