  World telly-watching record smashed
Updated 06 December 2002, 14.27
Three of the record-breakers celebrate their TV marathon
Four TV addicts have set a new world record for watching the box - for a whopping 47 hours!

The four men started watching TV at 9.45am on Wednesday and didn't stop until 8.45am on Friday.

Nick Tungett, Adam King, Stephen Hayes and Sam Beatson were only allowed a 15-minute break every eight hours.

'I've done it'

Getting comfortable for the TV marathon
Even though they'd had no sleep for almost two days, the four TV nuts were in a good spirits when they finished.

"I can't believe I've done it, I feel great," Adam King shouted when he came out.

The four record-breakers spent the time in special pods in London and Manchester, equipped with a DVD player, mini hi-fi and fridge, and of course, a huge wide-screen TV.

They weren't allowed to take their eyes off the TV for one second, or they'd be disqualified.

They each win £5,000 from CNX - the satellite channel which screened the record-breaker.
