Chamber of Secrets ticket sales soar
Updated 06 November 2002, 18.58
The Odeon Leicester Square was kitted out for the Chamber of Secrets premiere
Thousands of people have raced to buy advance tickets for the second Harry Potter film.

So far, more than 1 million worth of tickets have been sold in Odeon cinemas alone - and the film's not even out yet!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has sold more than 200,000 tickets at Odeons around the country.

'So busy'

The cinema chain is showing the second movie on four out of every 10 of its screens.

It's also put loads more staff into its booking centres to cope with all the thousands of calls from people wanting to book Harry Potter places.

An Odeon spokesman said they'd "never been so busy."

Squeezed out!

Not everyone's happy about the Chamber of Secrets release
But not everyone's happy about it. Some filmmakers who make small movies reckon the Chamber of Secrets has squeezed out their films from the cinemas.

Film producer Leslee Udwin, who made the comedy East is East, said she'd had to put her new film, The One and Only, back because there weren't enough screens for it to be shown in.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is released around the UK on Thursday 14 November.
