There were fears that he wouldn't be well enough to start filming the third Harry Potter movie, The Prisoner of Azkaban, which is due to start shooting early next year.

But Richard's spokeswoman said he had responded very well to treatment and would be out of hospital soon.

"Yes he is definitely looking forward to starting the next Harry Potter movie," she said.

Richard, who's gained millions of new fans since he appeared in the Potter films, is signed up to play the head of Hogwarts in all seven movies.
