First boy loses Popstars Rivals band place
Updated 13 October 2002, 12.39
Andrew is voted off
Quiet 24-year-old Andrew Kinlochan has become the first boy to be voted off Popstar Rivals.

He lost his chance to be in the boy-band after getting the least number of public votes on Saturday night's ITV show, hosted by Davina McCall.

All 10 boys sang live solos in front of a screaming audience and solemn judges. But Andrew's It's Hard To Say I'm Sorry just didn't do it for the viewers.

The boys gave great performances though and the girls went wild for 16-year-old Matthew and 23-year-old Daniel's songs.

There were just over 5,000 votes between least faves Andrew and 20-year-old Geordie Chris.

When the lads heard the result there was a lot of emotion in the studio! All them broke down in tears - including Davina - when Andrew gave one last performance of his song and said farewell.

The lads and lasses - who are living in two separate mansions - take turns performing and facing the public vote each week until there are just five members of each band left.
