Carty started off his TV career as cheeky fella Tucker Jenkins in school drama Grange Hill.

He joined EastEnders right at the start in 1984 and was a bit of a naughty motorbike-loving boy, getting into all sorts of mischief.

But the soap's bosses thought his role as Mark had "run its course" in July 2002.

They decided he would not return to the Square after finding out his wife Lisa had been having an affair with Queen Vic thug Phil Mitchell.
