Tony Caunter, 65, who has played cars salesman Roy for nine years, has decided to retire from the show - probably in spring 2003.
He said his time in Albert Square had been the "happiest of his career" but enough had been done with his character and it was time to move on.
He now wants to look for other roles that maybe don't have such a hectic filming schedule!
Roy leaves the Square and his big-ear-ringed wife Pat after quite a tough time with the car lot.
Unlucky Barry, his son, managed to lose all of Roy's money after being conned. The stress of all that gave Roy a heart-attack.
Then Pat's old boyfriend Frank Butcher came back to the Square and tried to lure her away from Roy.
But Roy has always bounced back and has proved to be a popular character amongst the cast. But what will Pat do now?
