The fire happened on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean at the Walt Disney studios in California.

Orlando plays a young British man who teams up with a pirate, played by Johnny Depp, to save the woman he loves from the clutches of an evil pirate, Captain Blackheart.

Set for summer

No one was injured in the fire and no other buildings on the studio lot were damaged.

Fire Captain Ron Bell said: "The cause is under investigation, but it's going to lay somewhere in the building or carving of the sets."

A spokesperson for Disney said it was too early to say if the filming schedule for the movie would be affected but that the release date for the film was still set for summer 2003.
