New CBBC show 'too racy for kids'
Updated 13 August 2002, 10.44
Cavegirl
A new kids' programme is already under attack for being too racy - and it's not even been on the telly yet!

It's called Cavegirl and is going to be on the digital BBC channel CBBC - the same channel that shows Newsround Lite.

Star wears skimpy outfits

The star of the new show, which is a comedy-drama, is a 15-year-old cavegirl.

Ace Lightning - drama about heroes and villains who escape a computer game on the CBBC channel

In the show she wears loads of different skimpy outfits - made from fake prehistoric animal fur - and she deals with the kind of problems kids face in programmes like Byker Grove and Grange Hill.

People, including some charities and national newspapers, think all this could all be too raunchy for kids.

But the boss of kids' telly at the BBC, Nigel Pickard thinks Cavegirl is absolutely no problem at all.

"It's a lively look at the problems of growing up - the sort of problems that kids have now, but in prehistoric times," he said.

Actress only washed hair once a week!

Playing a cavegirl wasn't easy for the actress, 19-year-old Stacey Cadman, who said she was only allowed to wash her hair once week to make it look authentic.
