'American Idol' is the same format as the British version and producers of the TV show are hoping for the same success.
The show held auditions earlier this year across the States where thousands of people turned out.
Simon Cowell is still on the judge's panel and is still dishing out his own unique style of comment.
But he knows that telling people they have no talent never goes down well.
He suggested to one woman that she sue her singing teacher because she was so awful. He made another cry and run out of the room.
But there has also been some amazing talent. Cowell admitted that perhaps more so than in the UK.
And no doubt we'll get a chance to hear about the Americam Will Young sooner or later.
