Kacey Ainsworth got best actress for playing Little Mo Slater, who's in prison after standing up to her nasty husband Trevor.

And Alex Ferns, who plays Trevor, was given both the best newcomer and best villain awards.

Spectacular scene

Jessie Wallace, who plays Little Mo's mouthy sister Kat, was voted sexiest female. The sexiest male prize also went to an EastEnders' star, Martin Kemp, who played nightclub owner Steve Owen.

He also won the best actor award after he left the soap in a blaze of glory earlier this year.

The Slater sisters were praised for their hard-hitting storylines, picking up the best single episode in a soap for when Zoe found out Kat was really her mum.

Bad year

And the surprise award of the night went to a furry former star of Emmerdale. Batley the dog won the best exit award for his doggy death in the soap.

Brookside got a few awards, but it was a bad year for EastEnders rival Coronation Street, which only got one prize.
