His offices, his research, his cinema, his film-making suites and sound factories are all here and he doesn't want anyone leaking any of his secrets out.
Only the people who work here normally get to see the Ranch.
Driving onto the Ranch was a bit like driving into Jurassic Park! All our faces were pressed against the windows, desperate to see everything. It's huge. It is hundreds of hectares of gorgeous countryside.
There are deer, buzzards, horses and giant bulls. Every now and again there's a huge pretty building. I kept expecting to see little ewoks running around or lightsabre trees but perhaps those things are kept behind the closed doors of those buildings!
Everything is named out of something from Star Wars. There are Skywalker rangers, there's Lake Ewok and even the money is called Lucas bucks!
This is the working world for George Lucas and his team of 250 people. It's about an hours drive north from San Francisco, but more importantly it's hundreds of miles away from Hollywood.
George Lucas made millions out of the first Star Wars. With that money he built the Ranch.
He was always certain that he wanted to make the films he wanted in the way he wanted without any orders from Hollywood.
And it's worked. His films are considered to be among the best ever made. What's more, if every hot shot Hollywood producer had their way, they'd want to work in a place like this too!
