Another presenter to exit is Dermot O'Leary, although he will be kept busy working on the new series of Big Brother which starts later this month.
The producer of Top of the Pops, Michael Kelpie, told The Sun newspaper that the idea was to freshen up the people presenting the show.
New presenters auditioned too
He added that the show has been auditioning new presenters, and will reveal the new team in full soon, but confirmed Jayne and Gail weren't part of that team.
