  Potter makes movie chart history
Updated 19 February 2002, 11.59
Harry Potter
It's official! Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone has become the second biggest film in cinema history.

The magical movie's overtaken Star Wars: Episode I, but still has to catch up with the biggest film of all time which is Titanic, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo di Caprio.

Muggle millions

Titanic
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
Star Wars: Episode I
Jurassic Park
Independence Day
Harry and his mates have taken a whopping 649m ($926m) from movie-going muggles worldwide.

Since it came out in 1997, Titanic has sunk a gigantic 1.3bn ($1.8bn) at the box office.

Meanwhile, the Fellowship of the Ring, the first in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is in the all-time top 10 film chart.

But its total worldwide takings still trail behind Harry Potter at 175m ($250m).

Harry's only been out for three months though and there's still loads more money to be made out of the DVD and video sales, due out in the summer.

Not forgetting the amount that's still to come from the next Potter films.

Experts predict they could be worth as much as 7bn ($10bn)!

The second Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, is due out in November.
