The Lord of the Rings could be in for a glittering night at Britain's biggest film awards after being nominated for 12 Baftas.
But it was not such magic news for Harry Potter - the young wizard is in the running for seven prizes, but missed out on a nomination for best film.

A surprising nomination went to Eddie Murphy for Shrek. He could win best supporting actor despite only supplying the voice to the donkey.
He will be up against Robbie Coltrane in that category, who was nominated for playing Hagrid in the Philosopher's Stone.
