Hollywood film stars glittered on Sunday night as they attended the first major film awards ceremony of the year, the Golden Globes.
The awards, held in Los Angeles, are seen as the second most important for films after the Oscars and give clues as to who will win what Oscar.
Rings miss out
Big prizes went to Moulin Rouge, starring Nicole Kidman and British actor Ewan McGregor, with Kidman taking home the globe for best actress in a film musical.
It also beat animated adventure Shrek to the award for best film musical or comedy as well as best original musical score.
And even though The Fellowship of the Rings - the first in the Lord of the Rings trilogy - was nominated in four categories including best dramatic picture, it failed to work its magic on the judges.
But film fans will have to wait another two months to see how their favourite flicks do in the major awards ceremony, the Oscars.
