Fans demand second chance for Aaron
Updated 02 January 2002, 13.55
Aaron Bayley
Furious fans of Pop Idol star Aaron Bayley have demanded that he gets a second chance.

They believe that the train driver was only voted off because of a phone-line fault that prevented callers getting through.

Many fans claim that they spent two hours trying to vote, but couldn't because the lines were constantly engaged.

He won't get a second chance

A spokesperson for Pop Idol told CBBC Newsround Online that it would not have been just Aaron's line that was affected.

All the calls go through the same central number and it is obviously very busy.

She said: "Unless any problems with the phone-line come to light, Aaron will not be reinstated."
