  Welsh Pop Idols win through
Updated 18 November 2001, 15.11

Two new contestants, Rosie Ribbons and Jessica Garlick, have been voted onto the Pop Idol finalists board.

More than half of the viewers voted for Rosie, an 18-year-old shop assistant from Wales.

'Relieved'

Fact File
Finalists so far
Gareth Gates, 17
Zoe Birkett, 16
Hayley Evetts, 25
Laura Doherty, 19
Rosie Ribbons, 18
Jessica Garlick, 20

She was "relieved" at the result which makes her the second most popular pop-wannabe after the only male in the finals so far, Gareth Gates.

Jessica, 20, who's also from Wales and has a strange crush on judge Pete Waterman, scored highly with the viewers too with her performance of Madonna's hit Crazy For You.

Pantomime

The judges, Simon Cowell, Pete Waterman, Nicki Chapman and DJ Dr Fox had a row about Cowell's harsh comments to contestants and Dr Fox told him he was acting like a "pantomime dame".

The eventual winner voted by the public will sign up with the management team behind the Spice Girls and S Club 7, and will get a recording contract with RCA Records.
