Potter toys cheaper in the US

Harry Potter Levitating game
Harry Potter Levitating game

American Potter fans are getting a lot more magic for their money!

Merchandise is being sold in Britain for up to twice as much as in the United States.

A Harry Potter figure costs 7.99 in the UK - but just under 5 in the US.

The Levitating Challenge is on sale in UK toy shops for 39.99 - but is available for 20.55 if you buy it on a US website.

The manufacturers say the difference in price is down to tax laws and business costs.

The Consumers' Association, which looks after shoppers' rights, says UK customers should expect to pay 25% more because of these added costs - but not double the price.

Not such a bargain

Fans wanting to avoid paying higher prices could try buying them from American-based websites.

But you and your parents should make sure that the sites deliver to the UK.

And double-check that, after adding in taxes and delivery costs, you're still getting a good deal!

Do these prices put you off the toys or are you still willing to pay? Let us know by sending in your comment on the right hand side of the page.
