  Tooth decay worksheet

Mix and match these teeth terms and definitions:

1. Plaque
2. Tartar
3. Enamel
4. Dental caries
5. Cavity
6. Pulp
7. Abscess
8. Gingivitis
9. Filling
10. Crown

A. A covering jacket fitted over the remainder of a tooth once the decayed area is removed.

B. Plaque which has hardened over time.

C. Gum disease.

D. The soft interior part of a tooth.

E. Tooth decay caused by acid attacking tooth enamel.

F. A rotten area of a tooth replaced with alloy or plastic.

G. The hard, protective coating on a tooth.

H. Sticky deposits of food debris, saliva and bacteria that particularly collect around the gum line, the edges of fillings and the grooved surfaces of teeth.

I. The build up of pus after bacteria has infected the centre of the tooth.

J. A hole in a tooth.
