Tass the dog auditioning

Think of a good headline for this story:

Forget Popstars and Pop Idol, judges are now searching for pupstars.

Dozens of pets have been auditioning for a part in a new stage production of the classic film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Producers were sniffing out 10 lucky pooches for the West End show.

Understudies

And they want understudies who can fill in at the drop of a bone in case any of the dogs go walkies.

The original movie featured the dogs in just one sweet factory scene.

But the show's bosses have changed the role so the four-legged stars can show off their acting skills.

The show is to be given its world premiere at the London Palladium on April 16.
