  • Understand the importance of order for a text to make sense

  • Use sequencing skills to help make sense of a text
Introduction
Display the worksheet:

As a class, sequence the muddled sentences into a correct order.

Main activity
Give out copies of these worksheets:

Children re-arrange the muddled story sentences into a correct sequence.

Extension activity
Print a selection of other news stories so that children can select one. They can then use scissors and glue to muddle up the story's sentences for a partner to correctly sequence.

Plenary
Compare children's sequences with the originals from CBBC Newsround.
