  Budget 2004 worksheet

1. Expenditure

Decide what percentage of your expenditure will go to each particular area.

% to Education =
% to Law and Order =
% to Defence =
% to Child Benefit =
% to Basic State Pension =
% to Benefits =

(Remember your percentages must total 100.)

Write down your reasons for giving more to some areas and less to others, making clear why you feel some things deserve more money.


2. Income

Decide which areas you would raise taxes in to get more money.

Write what percentage of your government's income should come from each particular area.

% from the Income Tax of lower earners =
% from the Income Tax of higher earners =
% from Beer =
% from Wine =
% from Spirits =
% from Tobacco =
% from Petrol =
% from Value Added Tax =
% from Car Tax =

(Remember your percentages must total 100.)

Write down your reasons for taking more from some areas and less from others, making clear why you feel some things should be taxed more heavily.
