  Testing time for Olympic Stadium
Updated 10 June 2004, 15.16
The stadium has taken a long time to build
Greek athletes are getting a look at the Olympic Stadium for the first time since rebuilding started.

They'll be running and jumping in the stadium to try and win places in the Greek Olympic team, as well as testing to make sure everything works.

There were worries Athens wasn't going to be ready to host the Games but they are confident it will all be ready.

It's the first time anyone will have run on the track or tested the electrical equipment in the stadium.

There are only nine weeks until the games begin and Olympic officials say it is now 80% finished.

But only 8,000 people will be able to watch the Greek trials as builders still have to fit the remaining 67,000 seats.

As well as the track the event will also test transport, computers and other electronic systems, as well as security, medical and anti-doping facilities.
