Greece will be ready for Olympics
Updated 12 May 2004, 13.50
There is still lots of work to do in Greece
The Olympics will take place in Athens, Greece later this year after Olympic bosses agreed the city would be ready.

There had been big worries that not enough work had been done on building the venues and other facilities, but now it seems everything is on time.

An important IOC member said: "No single project is at risk - we know everything will be delivered on time."

One of the most important things still to be put in place - the roof on the Olympic stadium - started on 10 May.

But it should be in place in plenty of time for the opening ceremony of the Games on 13 August.

Gianna Angelopoulus-Daskalaki, the leader of the Athens organising group said the people building the venues in Greece had worked really hard.

She added that they had managed to do seven years work in just four years.
