		Sporty Rings fans target archery

Rings actor Orlando Bloom and his elves have inspired lots of people in the UK to try their hand at archery.

Archery clubs around the country have seen more and more people trying out the sport, and some have admitted it's because of the Rings trilogy.

Tom Wilson, 12, used to see people firing arrows near his house, but only gave it a go after seeing the film.

He added: "It's great fun, I've made some new friends and as I get better I hope I can become more competitive."

Club organiser Elaine Nickols said not everyone who tries archery sticks with it, but plenty of people do.

"A lot of the youngsters are admitting their interest follows a trip to the cinema to see Lord of the Rings," she said.

She added: "What I think is important is that it proves you don't have to be able to run fast or kick a ball hard to be good at a sport."
