  Cricket: England face heavy fine
Updated 10 March 2004, 14.55
England are getting ready for West Indies
England's cricket team could be fined £1.1m and banned from playing if they don't tour Zimbabwe later in the year.

England are scheduled to play there in October 2004 but have come under pressure not to play Zimbabwe.

The government have asked England cricket bosses not to go there because of the way the country is being run by its president, Robert Mugabe.

But other countries have agreed to tour there and world cricket bosses won't be happy if England refuse to play.

The International Cricket Council say countries who don't go through with their tours could be fined and banned.

England hope that because the government have asked them not to go on the tour they will avoid being fined and banned.

Problems with playing cricket in Zimbabwe are nothing new, with England refusing to play a match there in the 2003 World Cup.
