Arsenal sign Reyes for record fee
Updated 27 January 2004, 17.44
Jose Antonio Reyes
Spanish international Jose Antonio Reyes has signed for Arsenal from Sevilla for an unknown amount of money.

Although the two clubs agreed to keep the exact figure secret, the 20-year-old is valued at 20m, making this a club record for the Gunners.

Reyes, who has been with Sevilla since he was 15, has signed a long-term deal.

The winger said: "Without a doubt this is a step forward in my career, but I'm not forgetting that I'm leaving the club that I love with all my heart."

The left-sided player has played for Spain three times, and scored 21 goals in the Spanish Primera Liga.

He should be able to move to Highbury straight away, as long as he passes a medical on Wednesday.
