  Aussie cricket legend Waugh quits
Updated 06 January 2004, 16.24
Steve Waugh walks off after his final Test
Australian cricket legend Steve Waugh has retired from the game after playing a record 168 Test matches.

He played his final game at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and scored 80 runs in Australia's second innings to help his team draw the Test with India.

Waugh is the most successful cricket captain of all time, leading his team to 41 wins in 57 Tests.

He has scored a hundred against every Test team playing and his 32 Test tons share the record for the most ever.

He played his first game 18 years and 11 days ago, also against India, but only scored 18 runs in his two innings.
