Euro 2004: England through to finals
Updated 12 October 2003, 11.06

Turkey 0-0 England
A brave England ensured their place in the Euro 2004 finals in Portugal with a draw against Turkey.

They only needed one point, and despite near misses by Scholes and Rooney, and a disastrous penalty by Beckham, they got just that.

England were in charge of the game from the beginning, and Turkey only really managed a couple of decent attempts at goal.

Sven's boys will now be fully focused on next summer.

Wales 2-3 Serbia
Wales are in Monday's play-off draw after this defeat left them second in their group.

Goals for Serbia came from Zvominir Vukic and Savo Milosevic and Danijel Ljuboja as Wales found out Italy were comfortably beating Azerbaijan, making this game meaningless.

John Hartson scored a penalty for the Welsh, and Rob Earnshaw got a late consolation to give the Welsh fans something to cheer about.

Scotland 1-0 Lithuania
Scottish hopes of a place in the Euro 2004 play-offs were rewarded as teenager Darren Fletcher scored a late goal against Lithuania.

Scotland had a hard time trying to break through the tough defenders, but managed to keep the Lithuanians away from their goal.

But when the 19-year-old Fletcher was brought on, he wasted no time. Full-back Gary Naysmith crossed the ball in to meet him in the penalty area, and he knocked it to the back of the net.

Switzerland 2-0 Republic of Ireland
Ireland ended their attempt at getting into the play-offs as Switzerland took a strong victory.

The game was essentially over when the Irish let in a sloppy early goal by Hakin Yakin.

When Alexander Frei's second goal marked the hour, the defeat was complete.

Greece 1-0 Northern Ireland
Vassilis Tsartas scored a penalty in the second half to allow Greece automatic qualification.

This means Northern Ireland have not scored in 13 games.
