World Athletics: Sad end to Edwards' career
Updated 26 August 2003, 14.34
Jonathan Edwards looks back at his jump
Triple jump world record holder Jonathan Edwards made a sad exit from the last competition of his career at the World Athletics Championships on Monday.

The 37-year-old went out after two attempts, giving gold to Swede Christian Olsson.

Edwards refused to blame his recent injury for his poor performance.

"My ankle is fine," he said, "I just had nothing left in me."

Great Britain got a closely fought medal in the men's 100 metres.

Darren Campell won an unexpected bronze, after all of the first six sprinters finished within 0.06 seconds of one another.

Jon Drummond, who held up the 100 metres quarter finals after refusing to leave the track when he'd been disqualified, is still in trouble.

In trouble

The International Association of Athletics Federations has said that USA Track & Field should punish him by 7pm on Tuesday.

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Kim Collins said "He is a grown man and should have known better."
