  Beckham backs England rugby boys
Updated 07 October 2003, 17.04
Jonny Wilkinson is the top kicker for England
David Beckham has sent England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson a good luck message for the Rugby World Cup.

Wilkinson has revealed that Becks got in touch to wish him well for the tournament.

The pair got to know each other when they worked together on a TV advert.

Wilkinson said: "He's a huge international figure and a captain of his country who knows what World Cups are about, so it's certainly a nice gesture."

Nerves are a problem

The England fly-half added: "He's passed on his best and that's fantastic. It was great working with him."

Even though England should win their first game of the tournament against Georgia easily, Wilkinson is still a bit nervous.

"I am desperately keen to get going and get some game time," he said.

"There's no worse feeling than hanging around with those nerves and anxiety but there is time to get some work done."

The Rugby World Cup starts on Friday 10 October.
